FraudLabs Pro is a fraud detection solution helping merchants to prevent payment fraud and minimize chargeback & losses.

FraudLabs Pro performs fraud validation using elements such as geolocation, proxy, email, credit card, transaction velocity and others to identify fraudulent orders before payment is even made. Coupled with the powerful rules system, you can build up your own checks and restrictions to help block fraud before it even occurs. Plus, FraudLabs Pro records key characteristics every time an order is found to be fraudulent and uses that to provide community driven system learning that helps block even more fraud before it happens.

How to Activate It

To activate FraudLabs fraud protection, navigate to Configuration () > System Settings > Fraud Protection (or Setup > Fraud Protection prior to WHMCS 8.0). In WHMCS 8.2 and later, click Activate, or, prior to WHMCS 8.2, select FraudLabs from the menu.

Check the checkbox to enable FraudLabs. You will then be asked to enter your FraudLabs Pro License Key. If you don't yet have one, you can register for free.

The remaining settings allow you to customise what blocks are imposed on orders. A fraud risk threshold above which to prevent orders completing checkout must be set. This number is on a scale from 0 to 100, with 100 being very high fraud risk. The default value is 20.

Viewing Fraud Risk Details

Once enabled, FraudLabs Pro will perform checks for any new orders submitted via the client area by end users.

Note that orders placed by an admin user, even via the client area, will not have fraud checks performed.

To view the results of the fraud screening, simply navigate to Orders > List All within the WHMCS admin area and select an order to view. The fraud screening results will be displayed below the order accept and manage buttons.

For more information regarding the individual metrics and what they mean, please refer to the FraudLabs Pro Knowledgebase

Using Rules to Block Orders

FraudLabs Pro allows you to create rules within your FraudLabs Pro account that define conditions under which orders should be blocked and prevented from completing checkout. Orders will still be placed, but will be created with a status of Fraud, allowing you to manually review and decide whether to accept and allow the order to complete.

For more information on working with rules, refer to the FraudLabs Pro website below.

Re-run Fraud Check

When viewing any order within the admin area, you may trigger a re-run of the fraud screen on-demand using the Re-run link displayed to the top right of the order screening results when viewing an individual order.

You may use these option if you believe the original results to be invalid, or after making a change to the clients profile information to verify if the new details change the risk assessment.

The check will be performed and the display updated to reflect the new results.
