DirectI is fairly complex to setup so this guide is here to help guide you through that process. If you don't already have an account with DirectI, then signup at [www.whmcs.com/freedirectiaccount.php] - it's FREE!

Ok, so lets begin:

  1. Login to your WHMCS Administration Area
  2. Go to Configuration > Registrars
  3. Tick the box to enable DirectI and enter the email address and password you setup when you signed up with DirectI
  4. Then click Save
  5. Now go to DirectI, login to your reseller account as instructed in the email you received when you signed up and go to Settings > Personal Information > Primary Profile - the value you need to note is the Parent ID
  6. Next, go to Customers > Add. This customer will be the customer where all your domains are registered under - DirectI does not allow a reseller to register domains in their reseller account - all have to be done in a customer account
  7. Once the user is added (it does not matter what the details of this user are - domains contact info still relates to each individual client you register a domain for in WHMCS) go to Customers > List and note that Customers ID
  8. Once you've got these two ID numbers, logout of the DirectI system and go back to your WHMCS Admin Area
  9. Again go to Configuration > Registrars and now enter those two values where asked

That's it, WHMCS will now be able to communication with DirectI. However, before you can register any domains you need to do one more thing. Add Funds!

You add funds from within your DirectI Reseller area. You do this by going to My Billing > Add Funds. Keep in mind that the amount you enter then has PayPal fees subtracted from it so the cost of a domain is about $8.20 to you.

There's one more step though. After adding funds to your reseller account, you then need to add the funds to the customer account from your reseller account. To do this, go to Customers > List. Click on the customers name you want to add the funds to, then click the button Add Funds at the top of the screen. You'll get a confirmation page first, just click Continue. Then the next page will ask you for the details about the funds. You should move all your funds to this customers account and enter any transaction key you want in the box. Then click Submit. You'll need to confirm it but then the customers account will be credited with the money. Now you are truly ready to start registering domains!
