Supported Domain Registrars
To enable a module navigate to Setup > Domain Registrars, choose the registrar from the dropdown menu and enter the relevant login details. Multiple registrars can be enabled concurrently but the page will always return to the default state, the enabled modules won't be listed like Payment Gateways.
Automatic Registration
More detailed guides on configuring domains & registrars in WHMCS can be found in Domains Configuration and we have prepared a video tutorial demonstrating how to configure a registrar @ http://www.whmcs.com/tutorials.php?i=7
With WHMCS it is possible to specify which registrar to use on a per-domain basis, this enables you to leverage multiple suppliers for different TLDs and therefore reduce costs. For example you may wish to use Registrar A for .com,.net and .org domains, but Registrar B for .co.uk, .org.uk and .net.uk.
To achieve this configure the domain pricing under Setup > Domain Pricing then select the different registrars to be used from the Auto Registration dropdown menus. The selected registrar will then be used to register that particular TLD automatically when a client places and order and pays the associated invoice.
Automatic Renewal
Clients can renew a domain at any time via the client area, or when the auto-renewal option is toggled on a renewal invoice will be automatically generated per the Invoice Generation settings under Setup > Automation Settings. WHMCS can renew domains at the registrar automatically once the renewal invoice has been paid, simply enable General Settings > Domains > Auto Renew on Payment.
Other Settings Tab
The Other Settings Tab is where the Default Nameservers for standalone domain orders are configured, these would typically be your own or that of an outside DNS management service (eg. your domain registrar). For example in order to use eNom's DNS management service the default nameservers would be:
dns1.name-services.com dns2.name-services.com dns3.name-services.com dns4.name-services.com dns5.name-services.com
When a domain is ordered alongside a hosting service the appropriate nameservers set under Setup > Servers > Edit are used instead.
The Default Contact Details allow you to specify which details will be displayed in the whois database for domains registered through WHMCS (registrar module permitting). The client's details will always be used as the registrant contact, ticking Use Clients Details will use their details for all other contacts. But by unticking this option and entering your details in the fields beneath these will be used as the Billing, Admin and Technical contacts instead.
