With WHMCS it is possible to specify which registrar to use on a per-domain basis, this enables you to leverage multiple suppliers for different TLDs and therefore reduce costs. For example you may wish to use Registrar A for .com,.net and .org domains, but Registrar B for .co.uk, .org.uk and .net.uk.

Deactivate a Registrar
To achieve this configure the domain pricing under Setup > Domain Pricing then select the different registrars to be used from the Auto Registration dropdown menus. The selected registrar will then be used to register that particular TLD automatically when a client places and order and pays the associated invoice.
+
To deactivate an active registrar, click Deactivate for that registrar in the list and then click OK.

Automatic Renewal
+
Automatic Registration
Clients can renew a domain at any time via the client area, or when the auto-renewal option is toggled on a renewal invoice will be automatically generated per  the Invoice Generation settings under Setup > Automation Settings. WHMCS can renew domains at the registrar automatically once the renewal invoice has been paid, simply enable General Settings > Domains > Auto Renew on Payment.

Other Settings Tab
+
WHMCS allows you to specify which registrar to use on a per-TLD basis. You can use multiple suppliers for different TLDs in order to reduce your total costs.
The Other Settings Tab is where the Default Nameservers for standalone domain orders are configured, these would typically be your own or that of an outside DNS management service (eg. your domain registrar). For example in order to use eNom's DNS management service the default nameservers would be:

dns1.name-services.com
+
To do this, select the desired registrars for each TLD from the Auto Registration menu at Configuration (<i class="fa fa-wrench" aria-hidden="true"></i>) > System Settings > Domain Pricing or, prior to WHMCS 8.0, Setup > Domain Pricing.
dns2.name-services.com

dns3.name-services.com

dns4.name-services.com

dns5.name-services.com

When a domain is ordered alongside a hosting service the appropriate nameservers set under Setup > Servers > Edit are used instead.
+
Domain Synchronisation
The Default Contact Details allow you to specify which details will be displayed in the whois database for domains registered through WHMCS (registrar module permitting). The client's details will always be used as the registrant contact, ticking Use Clients Details will use their details for all other contacts. But by unticking this option and entering your details in the fields beneath these will be used as the Billing, Admin and Technical contacts instead.
+
If you wish to sync the expiry date, next due date, and status with your registrar for your domains, you can do this using the Domain Sync Settings section at Configuration (<i class="fa fa-wrench" aria-hidden="true"></i>) > System Settings > Automation Settings or, prior to WHMCS 8.0, Setup > Automation Settings.

WHMCS allows you to configure automated domain registration and management and manage many domain-related functions.

You can access this feature at Configuration () > System Settings > Domain Registrars or, prior to WHMCS 8.0, Setup > Products/Services > Domain Registrars.

Configure a Domain Registrar

To configure a registrar:

  1. If it is not already active, activate the desired registrar. To do this, click Activate for that registrar in the list. A success message and the applicable registrar settings will appear.
  2. If the registrar module is already active, click Configure for that registrar in the list. The applicable registrar settings will appear.
  3. Enter or update the relevant details for your account with that registrar.
Each registrar that WHMCS supports has specific instructions and requirements (see below).

Make certain that you set the default nameservers that WHMCS uses for domain-only registrations in the Domains tab at Configuration () > System Settings > General Settings or, prior to WHMCS 8.0, Setup > General Settings.

Deactivate a Registrar

To deactivate an active registrar, click Deactivate for that registrar in the list and then click OK.

Automatic Registration

WHMCS allows you to specify which registrar to use on a per-TLD basis. You can use multiple suppliers for different TLDs in order to reduce your total costs.

To do this, select the desired registrars for each TLD from the Auto Registration menu at Configuration () > System Settings > Domain Pricing or, prior to WHMCS 8.0, Setup > Domain Pricing.

Domain Synchronisation

If you wish to sync the expiry date, next due date, and status with your registrar for your domains, you can do this using the Domain Sync Settings section at Configuration () > System Settings > Automation Settings or, prior to WHMCS 8.0, Setup > Automation Settings.
